Ford – Questionable future?
A little more than a year ago, i bought Ford to add to one of my portfolios before I really had a strategy in place. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I was young and dumb and wanting to get a piece of the action in the Stock Market. Over the year it has provided me steady dividend at $0.13/share, but have not increased in value. I am constantly thinking of unloading it at a loss for other investments.
Jack Banser at SeekingAlpha mentions some interesting points on why I should not sell just yet. With the new F-150 coming out this year with its new all aluminum body, and it will be more fuel efficient. “It gets 19 MPG city and 26 MPG highway. This is better than the 2014 model which only got 17 MPG city and 23 MPG highway. This may sound measly but adds up to almost 80 miles more per tank on the highway.” Those 80 miles per tank even with gas under $2.00 per gallon is a nice benefit for truck owners. Also, the price of Oil will most likely go up at some time in the future. This improvement over the competitors will just suck out all of the profits from the other car and truck manufacturers.
In other good news, it is increasing their dividend to have a 4% dividend yield at its current price. I almost want to buy more Ford stock.
